YOUR EXPEDITION STARTS HERE

Choose your first settlement

Choose two free starting settlements, one at a time. Each earns a victory point and produces its resource when its number is rolled.

  1. Compare resources. Choose different materials to help you build or fund victory projects.
  2. Check the dice odds. Numbers 6 and 8 produce most often. Ports offer cheaper trades; capitals reward city upgrades.
  3. Choose your region. Press Select, tap an unclaimed region on the map or use the location list, then confirm your free settlement.

Everyone chooses once, then again in reverse order. Each choice has 24 hours.

THE FIELD GUIDE

Welcome to the Isles.

A Catan-inspired regional game with its own rules, built for playing with friends over days.

  1. Find your land. Your player key says YOU and shows your colour and badge (P1–P6). Tap it to cycle through your settlements. Buildings carry the same badge; region numbers are dice totals. Your land zooms in; Overview shows the whole country.
  2. Read your stockpile. The bottom bar shows how many of each resource you own. After rolling, a receipt shows your gains and tokens move into your stockpile. Build cards show the full cost before you choose a location.
  3. Bring your people. Create a table, copy the invite and start with 2–6 players. Everyone starts with three of each resource. Choose two free starting settlements in forward then reverse order. Each choice has 24 hours; an expired choice is assigned automatically.
  4. Roll & gather. Every settlement matching the dice produces its region’s resource for its owner, even when that player is offline; cities produce two. The active player also receives one supply, except on a 7. A 7 taxes everyone: 5% per settlement and 10% per city, capped at 50% of their resources. Total tax rounds down, spread proportionally across resources. Open trades are refunded before tax.
  5. Make connections. Buy a highlighted route connected to your network, then settle an empty region along it. Sea crossings work like roads. You cannot extend through an opponent’s settlement.
  6. Build & trade. Settlements earn 1 point; upgrading to a city adds 1. Bank trades cost 4 for 1. First to 10 wins. No development cards or longest-road bonus in this edition. You can also spend 2 wool + 3 grain on Provisioning, 3 timber + 2 wool on Shipbuilding, or 3 brick + 2 ore on Public works. Each project adds 1 point and can be repeated after rolling on your turn; projects do not produce resources.
  7. Play at your pace. Review saved resource gains in Activity when you return. Roll, build as much as you can afford, then end your turn. After 24 hours the server skips an inactive turn. Reopen the invite on the same browser to return to your saved seat.
  8. Trade with friends. The Trades tab accepts offers outside your turn, even before rolling. Keep up to three open offers; exchange 1–4 cards of one resource for 1–4 of another. Offered cards are reserved for up to 24 hours and returned if cancelled or expired.
  9. Use your region. Ports unlock 3:1 bank trades. Industry gives +1 production with two owned roads connected to it. Upgrading a capital earns one extra point.
  10. Grow and catch up. Towns gain gardens after producing 3 resources and workshops after 7. If you are 3+ points behind, claim one extra supply after rolling; your next new settlement while 3+ points behind earns a one-time bonus point. Look in Activity.

Practice mode controls two seats in this browser; its table is saved on the server too. Coastlines and imagery are geographic; terrain relief and models are artistic.
